i wish there were more media representation of the Five Elements in Taoist thoughts, especially in videogames

the five elements goes: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water. fire creates earth and defeats metal, water creates wood and defeats fire. earth creates metal and defeats water…

it’s not so much a system of opposing elements but a system of elements that move around in the world. in fact it’s why we call Mars “the fire star”, Mercury “the water star”, Venus “the metal star”, Jupiter “the wood star”, and of course, you can guess what we call our deary Gaia.

and yes that’s why the Japanese call their weekdays like that :P

as any elemental systems go, it’s not a scientific model. i just wish that when people would try and expand on the 4 elements idea they would stumble upon this system more than they stumble upon adding shit like Ether
