today someone looked at me as if i was an eldritch horror when they found out i've had a switch 2 for over a year. but i've never connected it to a wifi network, i've only ever used my switch 2 with ethernet

@coolboymew i've played it portable. i just don't really play online. only reason it even has ethernet is because i already have a switch right next to where the dock is and it needs to download games, patches and updates

@quad hung out with some new ppl recently and they're quoting ads and singing to jingles. til most ppl don't use adblockers. "Even on youtube??"

And when people repeat ads at me either there's like a smirk on my face because it's just so bad it's joke material, or complete disgust.

@lanodan @sogga I dunno how it is in the cities, but where I live there are no ads at bus stops.

The place I live in only has 10k inhabitants and the nearest larger place is an hour drive away (and they still only have 11-12k inhabitants). So usually there's only one of each type of store here, meaning I have to go to the mall for like half the stores.

If I need a sporting goods store, a bookstore or the Burger King, they're all in the mall.

At least the electronics store is outside the mall.

Here it's a town of 18k people with a big city (230k) right next to it.
Plus I live near to a somewhat mid-density shopping district, like street with blocs of various small stores instead of rowhouses-like street of stores that are more big city material, so there's a pretty decent selection of stuff.
Heck there's even still a prosumer/DIY electronics shop (probably thanks to city having quite a lot of telecom & software going on).

@lanodan @sogga meanwhile i'm so far out in the boonies that it's a roughly 3.5 hour drive across 200+ kilometers plus a required ferry crossing in order to reach the nearest mcdonald's

@lanodan @sogga I live smack dab in the middle of Sogn og Fjordane, about as far from the region's borders as I can get. Which is the second least densely populated area behind only the far north.

It's basically the Norwegian equivalent of an American living in the most remote corner of Wyoming

@quad I used to use wifi with my switch, then I found out that the switch’s wifi doesn’t play well with their own games’ netcode and have exclusively used ethernet since I got an adapter

@quad (so yeah whenever I get a switch 2 I probably won’t bother setting up wifi on it either)
