sometimes i wonder if the reason why people feel convinced they're in the simulation is because they want to feel that their life has to be more interesting than it actually is for them to feel something, or maybe they want to feel important and in on some deep stuff that no one knows about, or maybe they know something is wrong with our world, with our system, but don't yet know it's capitalism
@mynameistillian It's kinda interesting that most people tend to gravitate towards some religion giving them meaning instead of accepting the freedom that they have to give meaning themselves. And blaming a "simulation" is kinda the same there.
but at the same time I can also understand it can be scary, because you don't want to find a meaning that others will reject you for, what if at the end people will claim it was all wasted, because your meaning was something "unneeded"?
@mynameistillian though partially this is also just my BPD making the fact that i mean a lot to other people really uncomfortable and scary. i shouldn’t talk about this on fedi but my brain is conditioned into fearing the fact that my life means a damn thing, even as i write stories whose subtext is about how every single little thing we do has a cascading effect on the world
