i really hate MDNI in the way that it signals “minors, please look at my profile and self-police yourself out of my face so I don’t need to spend any effort on managing my own social media account, because that is very costly mentally and I just want to hang out with friends on my silly godforsaken 2000s nostalgia Interwebs” which, well, let’s just say that as a Former Minor in a time where the vast majority of queers and furries have MDNI in their profile, it was simultaneously extremely exhausting and dehumanising to need to be so incredibly vigilant about anyone that I happen to interact with and incessantly checking every profile I come across just to know if I can “interact” with it or not. The adults didn’t want to figure out their own socialisation, so I was collateral damage, so I was forced to do the labour for them and still come out extremely lonely and depressed and ostracised.
When I joined fedi I wanted to be queer and be myself but when I left I was left with crippling fears of being different. I was left with the impression that I needed to do all the work to be just like other people in order to have anyone like me. and I’m still working on that to this day. and that was the internet for me, that just was the internet for me.
I have 20k words and a dream to hurt you.
An Inverted Paracosm OUT NOW!
This is a story about mental health. No, wait, this is a story about mentally ill women/woman-adjacent-things that fail to do good. Yeah, this is a story about mental health.
Early reader comments:
its been a while since i cried this hard. that was beautiful. thank u
you’ve successfully stabbed me in the heart
A hyperreal abstract tapestry of queerness, dysfunction, emotion, and really cute gay stuff. Lovingly genuine and bluntly experimental writing, that wove itself into the cracks in its shell as it scrolled down. It’s raw and messy and pungent and sweet.
I cried and smiled. I felt bruises I forgot about and scars I don’t have. I’m gonna be thinking about other creatures a lot. And about the light and shadow we cast on each other.

Goofus reports a severe security vulnerability in a public issue.
Gallant reports it through the company's responsible disclosure process, waits the full 90-day embargo, watches them patch it silently, deny it ever existed, bundle it quietly in a bugfix update, and send him a t-shirt. The t-shirt is the wrong size. This too goes unfixed.
Goofus doesn't write documentation.
Gallant writes documentation that says "see the implementation of foo function"
Goofus stores secrets in plaintext.
Gallant stores secrets in environment variables, which he sets from a plaintext file.
I think steamos users should start saying I use arch btw. Dilute the meaning of words until all words mean nothing
