Thinking about how a high-control group functions like an abusive relationship. It’s always “babe no one else is gonna love you like I do”. Incidentally, this is why if you’re trans and looking for trans social circles, you should be wary of ones that put pressure on you to be afraid of the outside world. A good social space will acknowledge the fact that you’re in danger, and give you space to talk about your fears and about navigating danger. A bad social space will demand you adopt an “it’s dangerous out there but it’s safe in here” mindset.
